What exactly is a solid lotion bar?

Well, for starters, it is lotion for your hands, elbows, knees and anywhere else you want to treat  those really rough, dry, problematic areas. This wonderful lotion is in a solid form for those of you who don't like the traditional type lotions. Our bars come in a small tin container, so you can easily carry them with you in your purse without the worry of a leaky bottle of lotion! They work by rubbing them between your hands (like a bar of soap).....this transfers the lotion to your hands, now rub into your dry skin everywhere! Each bar contains shea butter and cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, and vitamin E, all known for their fabulous skin softening qualities. These bars also contain all natural beeswax which has the highest melting points of any of the waxes. What does this mean for your lotion bar, you ask?  Well, it means that they'll last for a really long time!

These make perfect gifts for quilters, seamstresses and knitters.  These bars allow you to apply the lotion and then immediately handle your material/yarn without leaving a greasy fingerprint behind.
Travelers love 'em too!  They can keep them with them on the plane since they are in a solid form!
Our Lotion Bar Ingredients
Cocoa Butter: Cocoa butter has been called the ultimate moisturizer and has been used to keep skin soft and supple for centuries. This wonderful ingredient melts at body temperature. This means that it is readily absorbed into the skin. It is often recommended for those with skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. When cocoa butter is applied topically, it creates a barrier between your skin and the environment. It also helps your skin retain its moisture. Pregnant women have used cocoa butter salves and ointments to help prevent and treat stretch marks.

Shea Butter: The western countries are just now beginning to recognize the health and beauty benefits of shea butter. This is something African countries have know for centuries. Shea butter has been used to heal burns, sores, scars, dermatitis, psoriasis and stretch marks. It may also help diminsh the appearance of wrinkles by moisturizing the skin, promoting cell renewal and increasing circulation. Shea butter als contains the substance, cinnamic acid, which is protects the skin from harmful UV rays. Shea butter is a very effective moisturizer because it contains so many fatty acids. These fatty acids are needed to retain the skin's moisture and elasticity. It also contains vitamins A and E and has demonstrated antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Sweet Almond Oil: This oil is easily absorbed by the skin and serves as a great emollient. It helps restore moisture loss and aids in combating itching and inflammation. An excellent natural moisturizer that is suitable for all skin types. Since it is easily absorbed by the skin it does not leave a greasy or sticky feeling behind. The naturally lubricating property of this oil also helps repair cracked and flaky skin, especially during dry, cold winter and in harsh arid climates. Sweet almond oil can be used to soften tough skin on the palms and the heels. It also acts as a soothing agent that is beneficial for treating skin allergies and inflammation.

Beeswax:  Beeswax is considered to be one of nature's most perfect products. Honeybees produce beeswax from wax glands on the sides of their bodies. They use it to create their cells or honeycombs in which they store their honey. Beeswax possesses a subtle aroma....the light fragrance of honey mingled with other scents present in the hive. On average, a bee will consume between 8 and 10 pounds of honey just to produce a single pound of wax! This natural wax has been used for many things over the years, including cosmetics, skin care products and candles. One of the best features of beeswax is the amount of vitamin A it contains. This is important because vitamin A is a key element in human cell development. Beeswax also soothes and softens skin.

Vitamin E:  In terms of skin health and skin care, the benefits of vitamin E are numerous. Because of its antioxidant activity, it is vital in protecting skin cells from environmental factors such as uv light and pollution. When it is added to lotions and other skin care products, vitamin E plays a role in helping your skin look younger by reducing the apperarance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E also helps reduct the appearance of stretch marks and age spots. It also helps maintain the skin's natural oil balance and helps reduce the water loss from your skin.
